Introduce SignDict

SignDict is a sign language translation dictionary on the App Store, designed to help people understand and learn sign language more easily, and communicate with friends, family, fans, and loved ones in the United States and Japan.

It supports American Sign Language (ASL) and Japanese Sign Language (JSL), helping bridge communication across languages and cultures.

Japanese Sign Language

Hiragana is used for easy reading and pronunciation. Some Hiragana characters may remain the same but have different meanings when written in Kanji. It is important to note that Kanji display can also be used for Katakana if appropriate characters are available, for example if no kanji exist, and check katakana exist to dispkay. This is why it is essential to check the indicators carefully: Type stands for Types, and Parts stands for Parts (for example, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and so on). On the left side, you will see the Kanji representation, including any necessary variations.

American Sign Language

Right side: Sign Language meaning into English. Left side: A Types, for example, Hot (touch), Hot (weather). This layout helps clarify the specific context and usage of each sign, making it easier to understand their different meanings.

Equal meanings

One sign can have more than one meaning.
In American Sign Language (ASL), a single sign may represent multiple English words.
This applies mainly to English. In Japanese, it may apply in some cases.
